Surface temperature was 64 to 70-degrees and the lake level was 548.2-feet.

Surface temperature was 68 to 72-degrees and the lake level was 548.01-feet at 7:00pm.
4/25/08 - Lake Greeson - Caught Crappie up to 16-inches, Black Bass, Bream and a Catfish on Rosey Red minnows, Shiners and 1/32-ounce hair jigs fished from 2.5 to 4-feet deep around Buck Brush in 4 to 6-feet of water and 6 to 11-feet deep over brushpiles and Bamboo Crappie Condos in 12 to 20-feet of water. Surface temperature was 69 to 74-degrees and the lake level was 548.03-feet at 7:00pm.
4/24/08 - Ouachita River - Caught Rainbow Trout, White Bass and Hybrid White Bass on #5 Shadraps trolling into the current in 7 to 24-feet of water. Surface temperature was 52 to 54-degrees.
4/22/08 - Lake Greeson - Caught Crappie up to 15.5-inches on Rosey Red minnows fished from 6 to 18-feet deep over brushpiles and Bamboo Crappie Condos in 12 to 26-feet of water. Surface temperature was 66-degrees in the main channel early and up to 76-degrees in the creek arms by mid-afternoon. Lake level was 551-feet at 3:00pm and has been falling nearly a foot per day, which should continue through Friday.
4/21/08 - Ouachita River - Caught Rainbow trout, a 6.5-pound Striper and White Bass pulling #5 orange/brown crawfish and firetiger colored Rapala Shadraps and Norman Lavender Little N crankbaits into the current in 8 to 24-feet of water. Surface temperature was 53 to 54-degrees.
4/20/08 - Ouachita River - Caught Rainbow trout and a Yellow Bass pulling #5 orange/brown crawfish and firetiger colored Rapala Shadraps and Norman Lavender Little N crankbaits into the current in 8 to 24-feet of water. Caught Black Bass, a Yellow Bass, Bream and Crappie on Rosey Red minnows and Shiners fished from 4 to 8-feet deep around brushpiles in 6 to 10-feet of water. Surface temperature was 53 to 60-degrees.
4/18/08 - Ouachita River - Caught Rainbow Trout, a White Bass and a Walleye pulling #5 orange/brown crawfish and firetiger colored Rapala Shadraps and Norman Lavender Little N crankbaits into the current in 8 to 24-feet of water. Surface temperature was 53-degrees.

4/12/08 - Ouachita River - Caught our limit of Rainbow Trout pulling #5 Shadrap crankbaits into the current in 8 to 14-feet of water.
4/3/08 - Lake Greeson - Caught Stripers trolling Bandit 300 Crankbaits in the main channel where they had been surface feeding. Caught Stripers, Gar, Black Bass, White Bass and Bream by casting and jigging 1/4-ounce Kastmaster Spoons in 20 to 60-feet of water. Surface temperature was 56 to 62-degrees. The lake level was 550.3-feet this morning and fell through the day.
4/2/08 - Lake Greeson - Caught Crappie and Black Bass (between thundershowers) on minnows and jigs fished from 3 to 8-feet deep on buck brush in 6 to 10-feet of water. Surface temperature was 57 to 59-degrees. The lake level was 550.4-feet this morning and rose slightly through the day.
3/31/08 and 4/1/08 - Lake Greeson - Caught Crappie, White Bass, Black Bass and Bream on 1/32-ounce chartreuse/silver/chartreuse and gray/silver/gray hair jigs, Crappie Magnet Jigs and minnows fished from 3.5 to 14-feet deep around buck brush and over brushpiles in 5 to 20-feet of water. Surface temperature was 57 to 61-degrees and the lake level came up to about 550.5-feet.
3/30/08 - Lake Greeson - Caught Crappie and Black Bass on Rosey Red minnows, Shiners and 1/32-ounce chartreuse/silver/chartreuse hair jigs fished from 3.5 to 5-feet deep around buck brush, tree trunks and stumps in 5 to 7-feet of water and 10 to 13-feet deep over brushpiles in 18 to 20-feet of water. Surface temperature was 57 to 60-degrees. The lake level was 549.4-feet this morning and fell through the day.
3/29/08 - Lake Greeson - Caught Crappie up to 2-pounds/16-inches on Rosey Red minnows and Shiners fished from 5 to 6-feet deep around buck brush and stumps in 6 to 8-feet of water and 10 to 13-feet deep over brushpiles in 18 to 20-feet of water. Surface temperature was 57 to 59-degrees. The lake level was 550-feet this morning and fell through the day.
3/28/08 - Lake Greeson - Caught Crappie, Black Bass, Bream and a White Bass on Rosey Red minnows and Shiners fished from 5 to 7-feet deep in buck brush and around willow stumps in 5 to 8-feet of water. Surface temperature was 62-degrees at sunrise and 59-degrees by late afternoon. The lake level was 550.5-feet this morning and fell through the day.
3/27/08 - Lake Greeson - Caught Crappie up to two pounds and Black Bass on Rosey Red minnows, Shiners and 1/32-ounce chartreuse/silver/chartreuse hair jigs fished from 4 to 6-feet deep down inside submerged and partially submerged buck brush in 5 to 8-feet of water. Surface temperature was 56-degrees at sunrise and warmed to as much as 68-degrees in some of the shallower, protected coves by late afternoon. The lake level was 551-feet this morning and fell through the day. Swepco reports that they plan to generate around the clock through next Wednesday to get the lake level down below full pool.
3/26/08 - Lake Greeson - Caught Crappie (20 were from 14 to 15.75-inches long) and Black Bass on Rosey Red minnows and Shiners fished from 4.5 to 5.5-feet down inside submerged buck brush in 6 to 8-feet of water. Surface temperature was 56 to 60-degrees and the lake level was 551.5-feet this morning and fell several inches through the day.
3/25/08 - Lake Greeson - Caught Crappie, a White Bass and Black Bass on Rosey Red Minnows, Shiners and 1/32-ounce hair jigs fished from 3 to 6-feet deep around submerged buck brush and tree trunks in 6 to 12-feet of water. Surface temperatures was 56-degrees at sunrise and 62-degrees in protected coves by late afternoon. The lake level was 552.1-feet early this morning and fell several inches through the day.
3/21/08 - Lake Greeson - Caught a 16-inch, 2-pound, 2-ounce Crappie and Black Bass on Rosey Red minnows and Shiners fished from 2 to 9-feet deep around flooded buck brush and brush piles. Surface temperature was 55 to 61-degrees and the lake level was 553.1-feet and rising. Heavy rains earlier in the week brought the lake up about 5-feet over full pool. The creek arms are muddy but starting to clear up a little. The main channel is muddy past Point 11.
3/17/08 - Lake Greeson - Caught Crappie, Black Bass, White Bass and Bream on Rosey Red minnows, Shiners and 1/32-ounce gray/red/gray Slater's Hair Jigs fished from 2 to 13-feet deep over Bamboo Crappie Condos and brush piles in 5 to 18-feet of water. Surface temperature was 52 to 59-degrees and the lake level was 548.3-feet.

Surface temperature was 52 to 58-degrees and the lake level was 548.2-feet.
3/14 - 3/15/08 - Lake Greeson - Caught Crappie up to 17-inches/2-pounds, 9-ounces, Black Bass and Bream on Rosey Red minnows, Shiners and 1/32-ounce hair jigs fished from 18-inches to 13-feet deep around stumps, buck brush, brushpiles and Bamboo Crappie Condos in 2 to 18-feet of water. Surface temperature was 54 to 64-degrees and the lake level was 548-feet.
3/13/08 - Lake Greeson - Caught Crappie, Black Bass and a White Bass on Rosey Red minnows, Shiners and 1/32-ounce hair jigs fished from 2 to 12-feet deep on Bamboo Crappie Condos and brushpiles in 3 to 16-feet of water. Surface temperature was 50 to 58-degrees and the lake level was down to 548-feet by mid-afternoon. The male crappie are showing their spawning colors and trying to move into the shallows but with high and falling lake level and unstable water temps they seem to be very scattered.

2/23/08 - Lake Greeson - Caught Crappie and a Striper on Rosey Red Minnows, Shiners and chartreuse/silver/chartreuse hair jigs fished from 6 to 18-feet deep in Bamboo Crappie Condos and brushpiles in 18 to 30-feet of water. Surface temperature was 47-degrees and the lake level was 546.2-feet. The water is starting to clear up in the creek arms but is still fairly dingy.
2/20/08 - Lake Greeson - Caught Crappie, Bream and Black Bass on Rosie Red minnows, Shiners and chartreuse/silver/chartreuse Shinee Hinee Hair Jigs tipped with small Rosey Red minnows or Shiners fished from 15 to 21-feet deep in Bamboo Crappie Condos and brushpiles in 18 to 35-feet of water. Surface temperature was 47 to 52-degrees and the lake level was 546-feet. The water in the river, in Self Creek and Bear Creek is still very muddy.
2/18/08 - Lake Greeson - Caught Crappie and Black Bass on Rosey Red minnows, Shiners and Shinee Hinee Hair Jigs tipped with small Rosey Red minnows fished from 4 to 27-feet deep in Bamboo Crappie Condos and brushpiles in 8 to 35-feet of water. Surface temperature was 47 to 50-degrees and the lake level was 545.8-feet - up nearly 4-feet since a week ago. Muddy water has pushed farther down the creek arms and the river is muddy to Daisy State Park.

Surface temperature was 42 to 45-degrees and the lake level was 541.7-feet. We're seeing Bald Eagles and Loons nearly every day and there have been quite a few migratory ducks on the lake.

12/15/07 - Lake Greeson - We've been giving the Crappie a break and working real hard on our Bamboo Crappie Condos while the lake is down. Surface temperature was 78 to 81-degrees and the lake level was 396.2-feet. We saw a Bald Eagle, an Osprey, Red-tail Hawks, Great Blue Herons and Whitetail Deer. In the last few weeks we've also seen a Fox, a Beaver, Otter and numerous Wild Turkeys.

8/22/07 - Scouted several areas of Lake DeGray and caught Black Bass and a Pickerel on 1/4-ounce Kastmaster Spoons by casting to breaking fish and jigging off the bottom. Caught Crappie and a Bream on Rosey Red minnows fished from 13 to 15-feet deep over brushpiles. Surface temperature was 89-degrees and the lake level was 401-feet.

"Black/Pearl" and "Mango" colors were most productive. Trip was cut short by lightening and heavy showers so we didn't get to fish for Crappie. 4/23/07 - Lake Hamilton - Scouted several areas with a couple of friends and caught a few Crappie, Black Bass and Bream on Rosey Red minnows fished from 10 to 16-feet deep. Surface temperature was 67-degrees.
NOTICE: I visited with three U.S. Coast Guard officers at the boat ramp and learned that I can no longer guide on Lake Hamilton without a Coast Guard license.
It may not be worth the time, expense and hassle involved in obtaining a Coast Guard license to guide on Lake Hamilton. Until further notice I will not be guiding on Lake Hamilton and will concentrate my time and effort in placing additional fish habitat in Lake Greeson and Lake DeGray and expanding the areas I fish on those lakes where a Coast Guard license is not required.

4/21/07 - Lake Greeson - Caught Crappie up to 16.5-inches/2-pounds on Rosey Red minnows and 1/32-ounce hair jigs fished from 3 to 18-feet deep around laydowns and brushpiles in 6 to 26-feet of water. Surface temperature was 62 to 67-degrees and the lake level was 545.1-feet.
4/20/07 - Lake Greeson - Caught Crappie up to 15-inches on Rosey Red minnows and jigs fished from 5 to 7-feet deep on laydowns that extend into 10 to 14-foot of water. Caught White Bass and a Striper casting 1/4-ounce Kastmaster Spoons to breaking fish. Surface temperature was 62 to 64 degrees and the lake level was 545.2-feet. Saw a pair of Bald Eagles, loons and watched an Osprey that was fishing.
4/19/07 - Lake Greeson - Caught Crappie up to 16.25-inches, Black Bass and Bream on Rosey Red Minnows and 1/32-ounce jigs fished from 6 to 18-feet deep on brushpiles and laydowns in 10 to 28-feet of water. Surface temperature was 62-degrees and the lake level was 545.2-feet.
4/17/07 - 4/18/07 - Caught Crappie on Rosey Red minnows and hair jigs fished from 7 to 18-feet deep around laydowns, brushpiles and bamboo condos in 12 to 30-feet of water. Hosted a Media Event with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, demonstrating how we build fish habitat and how we fish for Crappie. Also got in on some electro-fishing with Fisheries Biologists, which was very enlightening.
4/16/07 - Lake Greeson - Caught Crappie up to 15.5-inches, Black Bass and Bream on Rosey Red minnows fished from 4 to 18-feet deep around laydowns, brushpiles and bamboo condos in 8 to 30-feet of water . Surface temperature was 58-degrees in the morning and 64-degrees in the afternoon and the lake level was 545.2-feet.
4/14/07 - 4/15/07 - Lake Greeson - Caught Crappie, Black Bass and Bream on Rosey Red minnows and 1/32-ounce hair jigs fished from 5 to 20-feet deep around laydowns, brushpiles and bamboo condos in 12 to 30-feet of water. Surface temperatures were around 60-degrees by late afternoon and the lake level was 545-feet.
